Refrigerator Organization

Refrigerator organization was an area in my life that needed work and patience. I had to figure out  where to put things and how to organize it for optimal use. After a lot of trials and experimentation I created a system that I am very happy with:}

Part of the reason it can stay organized is that I buy a lot of the same foods on a regular basis.

Inside my fridge from top to bottom:

  1. First shelf: Kombucha {I now make my own but use GT’s bottles for storing}, hemp seeds and other drinks.
  2. Second shelf: Oranges, apples
  3. Third shelf: Leftovers or any food I have prepared & lettuce
  4. The first drawer: Flat or smaller items {miso, garlic and seaweed}
  5. The bottom two drawers are where carrots, cucumbers, and all other vegetable live.

Side shelves:

  1. Superfoods & Dressings
  2. Macrobiotic ingredients
  3. Condiments
  4. Tall things {like apple cider vinegar}

I do have labels in my fridge- labels help me and I love them:} There are other foods that go into my refrigerator but having a solid foundation of where the ‘regulars’ live make the ‘transients’ easier to deal with:}

Organized tea = Happy me:}

These pretty canisters are out on our kitchen counter. In them I keep the teas we drink on a daily basis.

From left to right:

  1. Black tea
  2. Green tea
  3. Yerba Mate
  4. Bedtime tea

We have a constant rotation of these teas so when I come home from shopping I just take the tea out of the box {recycle the box} and put them in their respective canister. OH how life is good!

Apples & Oranges

This is a shelf in my refrigerator. I use my drawers for veggies and I needed a solution for my round and “rolly”  fruit. My mother-in-law gave me these cute little baskets. They work perfectly! We have been using this system for quite some time and it never fails. It feels so good when I come home from shopping- I just take out the baskets and plop them right in:}

They also like to live in a place that is easy for them to sit rather than rolling all around in the drawers.

Organized fruit = Happy fruit:}

Thanks Mom!
