Hello World!

One of the most important tasks of running my household is Menu Planning. Every Sunday I sit down with my “cook books”, pretty colored pens, a paper and my menu planning notebook. First I look through the glorious pages of my books and find things I would like to make, recreate or make again. I write down any ingredients I will need to buy.

Here is the key: I make recipes that call for similar ingredients – this is how I use up my produce. If I buy 3 red bell peppers I will use 3 red bell peppers and know exactly what recipe they go in and what day they will be used. I write down our menu in my little spiral bound notebook {with my pretty color pens} and keep it in the kitchen.

I usually double check my grocery list to see if I really need more garlic or if I have enough for the recipes I am making that week – then I go shopping! I figured out that if I take the time to sit and prepare, I save time during the week and more importantly I waste less by utilizing everything I bought.

My main goal with menu planning = not wasting food.
Happy Healthy :}
